bowHunting with Louwlardus
When to hunt and what to bring
Earlier in the season (April thru July when there are more leaves on the cover is better suited for those who prefer a stalking bow hunt. The denser foliage makes it a little easier to conceal yourself and there are fewer dry leaves on the ground. Bring a pair of soft-soled hunting boots with that you can walk quietly in and camouflage clothing that blends in with the bush around you.
Later in the year (August thru October has advantages when bow hunting from hides as animals tend to visit waterholes more regularly. Bring dark-colored, quiet clothing and even a face mask with you if you plan on hunting from hides.

Bowhunting
We cater to all bow hunters, whether you shoot traditional bows or prefer to hunt with a compound bow, long bow or crossbow. The Bushveldt region in the Limpopo Province offers some of the most spectacular bow hunting opportunities. Louwlardus is known for their exceptional blinds with special mentioning of the latest Buffalo blind unique in its looks. Most of the hunting is done from blinds and tree-stands and shot distances at the various stands vary from 10 yards to 40 yards. Walk and stalk is also popular and your PH can easily set up a pop up blind if required. So whether you are a novice or an expert, traditional shooter or modern bow hunter, we will get you on your dream trophy animals.
Other methods of hunting include spot-and-stalk hunting. Although the success rate of this type of hunting is much lower than hunting from the stands, it is a real adrenaline rush for those who are up for the challenge. Quiet shoes, good camouflage and plenty of perseverance and patience is vital in getting to within shooting range on foot.
Additional to the climate and terrain making it well suited for bow hunting, our expert PHs, trackers, and skinners are with you to ensure you enjoy every moment of this thrilling hunt. Often our clients return, not just for the high quality trophies they can hunt with us, but for the wonderful service and family-friendly setting they enjoy.
A long range shooting g range suitable for both bow and riffle is available where clients can experiment and ensure their equipment is set up for the hunt to come. Louwlardus also offer facilities to do minor bow reparations and have a bow press on site to adjust your bow to your required pounds.
Blinds are spacious inside and can comfortably accommodate 3 -4 people with space to move around in. The elevated blinds are furnished with carpeting to keep it quiet for when you have to make that shot count. We will provide you with a packed lunch and drinks for you and your professional guide while you spend time hunting from the blinds. Alternatively lunch can be arranged at the lodge at your discretion.
